Develop service motto, work as a close-knit team: DGP to unit officers

HYDERABAD: Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar advised all unit officers of the state to compete among themselves and not with those from other units to achieve better results.

“Avoid carrying any impressions. That’s not the objective as every unit has its own salient features. Units with different distinctive features should not be compared without any objectivity,” he said during a crime review and analysis with all commissioners, SPs, heads of different wings and senior officers in his office.

“You know the unit better than anyone else and I have full trust in each of you and also the non-cadre officers in the unit. You can best evaluate your strengths and weaknesses and plan accordingly,” Kumar told the unit heads.

The DGP urged the officers to ensure that their team members, subordinates and the rank and file work excitedly. Work pressure has to be removed, irrespective of verticals, he underlined.

The enthusiasm of young IPS officers blended with the wisdom of senior officers, experienced officers and regional IGs will make for a cohesive unit, he said.

Meanwhile, he impressed upon young officers the need to understand that they would be the torch-bearers for Telangana in the next decade or two. This should spur them to rise to heights and set benchmarks that would be the envy of those in other fields.

“You will be up against challenging moments that could test your patience and even demotivate you. It is in those moments that you should stand out as an exemplary officer rooted to service,” he exhorted the young officers.
