Durga Temple Kalyanotsavam Organised on Bhavani Island

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, Religious Tourism and Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri jointly organised Shiva and Parvathi's Kalyanotsavam and Karthika Vanabhojanam in a grand manner on the Bhavani Island at Vijayawada on Sunday. For the first of its kind, the Durga temple scholars performed the Shiva and Parvathi’s Kalyana Mahotsavam. Minister for Tourism, Culture and Youth Advancement R.K. Roja attended the celebrations and performed special pujas. Devotees have expressed happiness over the conduct of Siva and Parvati’s Kalyanotsavam.

Durga temple priests said that Karthika Masam is an auspicious month for Hindus, during which people worship Lord Shiva and Parvathi Devi for the well-being of society. They further said that it was a memorable day due to Shiva and Parvathi’s Kalyanotsavam. Later, several cultural and devotional activities were conducted for the devotees.

Earlier, minister R.K. Roja visited Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri and took the goddess Durga Devi darshan. The temple executive engineer, K.V.S. Koteswara Rao accorded a warm welcome to the minister and the temple priests blessed her at the Veda Ashirvachanam Mandapam.
