Bhupiratti Marg Set to End Traffic Woes in Tirupati

Tirupati: In a move aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity in the temple city, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) inaugurated the newly-widened ‘Bhupiratti Marg’ at the Nawabpet area here on Sunday.

The 40-feet thoroughfare, a deviation from Tilak Road connecting Nawabpet and leading to the post office, RTC central bus stand, and various other areas in the city, was expanded from a 10-ft narrow passage. The development was undertaken at a cost of Rs 1.16 crore as part of MCT’s ongoing efforts to address the growing traffic challenges in the city.

Tirumala pontiffs Pedda Jeeyar Swamy and Chinna Jeeyar Swamy inaugurated the Bhupiratti Marg in the presence of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman and city MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, mayor Dr R. Sireesha, deputy mayors Bhumana Abhinay Reddy and Mudra Narayana, and MCT commissioner D. Haritha.

Addressing the gathering, the TTD chairman emphasised their commitment to name all the newly laid and widened roads in honour of great saints, poets, kings, and queens who played a pivotal role in the development of Tirupati and Tirumala, including the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple and other shrines in the city. He said that the newly-widened road is christened Bhupiratti Marg, named after the mother of the renowned Vaishnavite exponent, Sri Ramanujacharya.

Responding to criticisms from the opposition regarding the master plan roads and other initiatives in the city, MLA Bhumana expressed determination to push forward with the development of Tirupati city. He categorically stated that there is no intention of stepping back in matters of public welfare. Reddy affirmed that, despite opposition, Tirupati will continue its trajectory towards becoming the best city in the country under his leadership.

Bhumana Abhinay Reddy emphasised the municipal council’s dedication to Tirupati’s development. He asserted that any hindrance to this development would face opposition from the people, who are eager to witness Tirupati flourish. He highlighted that Bhupiratti Marg had already brought relief to the residents of Nawabpet, who have long endured traffic congestion in the region.
