Kamareddy collector's vehicle gets 28 e-challans; fine paid after social media expose
HYDERABAD: Kamareddy district collector’s official vehicle violated traffic rules with rare frequency and got e-challans repeatedly for 28 times. From 2016 to August, 2021, the traffic police slapped e-challans and a penalty of Rs 27,580 on vehicle number TS16EE 3366.
After bifurcation of undivided Nizamabad district, Kamareddy was formed on October 11, 2016. Previously, IAS officers Satyanarayana and Sharath worked as the district collectors. The present collector is Jitesh Patil.
The official vehicle, used by these collectors, not only goes to Kamareddy district, but is also frequently driven to the residual district of Nizamabad and state capital Hyderabad.
During the visits, the vehicle violated traffic norms. Mostly, the vehicle was captured on speed guns, doing over-speeding.
Details of violation of traffic rules by collector’s vehicle and the e-challans against the vehicle went viral on social media. Collectorate officials quickly went and paid a penalty of Rs 27,580 to the police department.
Reportedly, VIPs and their drivers are not taken to task for violating traffic rules.
