CM Pinarayi Vijayan denies plan to curtail Kurinji area
KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has clarified at Kuthuparamba here on Saturday that the survey on the Neelakurinji reserve boundary was not aimed at reducing the area, but to identify the extent of the land in order to preserve it. Addressing a party programme, Mr Vijayan said that the decision to conduct the survey was taken at a special meeting of all concerned to discuss ways and means to preserve the Neelakkurinji reserve region.
There were no issues or protest at the meeting when the decision was taken, he said. After conducting the survey the issues faced by the region would be clearer which would help in protecting the species and the region, he pointed out.
The discussions would only help to leave a dent on a discussion with good intention, he added.
