Bengaluru: Cubbon turns dumping ground ?
Patrons allege that construction debris being deposited at night.

Bengaluru: Garden city’s biggest lung space seems to have turned into a dumping ground.
Park users allege that for the past one month, construction debris is being dumped at night on the 17-acre park (Hudson circle to UB city circle and from UB city circle to the central library).
Cubbon Park Walker’s Association President Umesh Kumar has levelled serious allegations against the horticulture department of conniving with the contractors to dump the debris into the park.
“The lorries queue in the night and dump the debris. The construction debris from Chickpet, Majestic, Sampagi Nagar and several other areas are thrown in the park,” Kumar said.
He pointed out that there are no cameras in the park, which makes it all the more vulnerable. “The horticulture department installed cameras in the Lalbagh, but removed it later. Are they really interested in the public service,” he wondered.
The Walker’s Association president fears that the debris being littered in the name of red soil would damage the fertility of the soil thereby impacting the environment.
