Social media posts on Neelamani Durga Ammavari temple were fake, asserts govt

The Fact Check wing said the re-construction activity at the temple at Pathapatnam has been shown in poor light in the social media posts

Visakhapatnam: The Fact Check wing of the AP Government on Monday clarified that the TD’s allegation of complete devastation of a Neelamani Durga Ammavari temple at Srikakulam district was untrue and the posts released by TD on social media were fake.

The circulated videos carried messages aimed at creating religious unrest, the state government felt. The Fact Check wing said the re-construction activity at the temple at Pathapatnam has been shown in poor light in the social media posts. “The messages attached to the videos were completely misleading and malicious in nature,” it said.

The governmental agency said that due to a proposed railway-flyover construction, a part of the compound wall and the arch at the front side of the temple had to be removed. For this, the temple had been served notice in Year 2020 and it was paid a compensation of Rs 1.41 crore."

After a year, the required changes were effected at the spot. “The authorities took advance permission from the temple authorities for removal of the arch etc,” it stressed.

The authorities have assured the public that the removed parts will be rebuilt with the help of the flyover contractor.
