Power generation resumes at Srisailam plant
Two units that can generate 300 MW were switched on after a week-long trial run
Hyderabad: Power generation was resumed in two units of the Srisailam left bank power house on Monday. The station had been shut down after a fire in which nine persons were killed on August 21 this year.
Energy minister G. Jagadish Reddy formally switched on units one and two of the six-unit 900 MW hydroelectric power plant.
According to the TS Genco authorities, the two units generating 300 MW were officially switched on after a week-long trial run.
The authorities explained that out of these six units of 150 MW each, unit 4 sustained more damage and the unit is expected to resume generation of power around May next year.
They said that Units 3, 5 and 6 will resume work within three month.
