VIJAYAWADA: A technical glitch in the main server has been causing huge losses to the state exchequer as registration of properties is being overly delayed for the past 10 t0 15 days in the department of registration.
Though a property document is supposed to be registered in an hour or so at the office of the sub-registrar, it is taking up to several days. The problem lies with a technical glitch in the main server and it remains unresolved.
People who visit sub-registrar offices for registration of properties in several parts in the state are a disappointed lot with the inordinate delay.
According to the ruling party’s Yelamanchili MLA U.V.R. Raju, “My mother-in-law went to a local sub-registrar office for registration of her farm land recently. She failed to get it done on that day as she was told that the server was down. It was done the next day. Several people complained to me that they were facing difficulty in registration of their properties. I appeal to the concerned authorities to attend to the technical issue with the main server. Otherwise, we may suffer revenue loss if the problem persists.”
Registration of properties has already been affected in Krishna and Guntur districts following the state government’s decision to relocate administrative and judicial capitals and prevalence of Covid-19.
On October 23, the department of registration and stamps recorded revenue collection of Rs 28.76 crore while from October 1 to 23, the collection stood at Rs 389.55 crore. However, cumulative collection of revenue from April 1 to Octover23 was Rs 2,334.32 crore against Rs 2,392.07 crore collected in the corresponding period last year showing a 19.29 per cent shortfall of revenue.
Adding further trouble, maintenance of systems including ensuring their connectivity to the main server for registration of properties in sub-registrar offices are also affected as software engineers appointed by a private agency in these offices are learnt to be avoiding work as they not been paid wages for the last 10 months. Sources said that the private agency has reportedly told them that the state government has been defaulting on their bills for several months.
