Follow AP, Kerala in energy efficiency: BEE

Vijayawada: Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has called for aggressive implementation of energy efficiency programmes and clean energy initiatives.

In a virtual meeting, BEE director general Abhay Bakre appreciated AP and Kerala for their commitment towards promoting clean energy. He pointed out that the two states have taken the lead in establishing a dedicated body to accelerate introduction of energy conservation and efficiency projects.

Bakre directed AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) to develop a roadmap for achieving the state's energy saving target of 6.68 million tonnes of oil equivalent (mtoe) by 2030.

The DG stated that joint efforts of all states over the past few years have led to energy savings worth ₹40,945 crores throughout the country under the Perform, Achieve, and Trade (PAT) scheme.

APSECM officials said Andhra Pradesh has taken a major initiative of increasing clean energy generation on a large scale. It has also contracted supply of 7.5 GW renewable energy, which is 40 percent of total installed power capacity of 18.8 Giga watts.
