Vigilance seeks legal opinion on Thomas Chandy pleas

Mr. Babu told DC that since there were three or four petitions, he required some time to frame a legal opinion.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) is still awaiting legal opinion on a few petitions seeking a probe against Transport Minister Thomas Chandy. Vigilance director Loknath Behera on September 20 sought legal opinion from additional director of prosecution (vigilance) Mr. K. D. Babu on these petitions against Mr. Chandy, including the one from Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.

Mr. Babu told DC that since there were three or four petitions, he required some time to frame a legal opinion. “I hope to give it without much delay,” he said. There were allegations that Vigilance was deliberately delaying further action against Mr Chandy although a report by Alappuzha collector also found substance in the allegations against Mr Chandy.
