VS Achuthanandan to implead in Vellapally Natesan's case

Mr Achuthanandan said that the “tricks†being played by Mr Natesan to sabotage the micro-finance case would not work

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Administrative Reforms Committee chairman V.S. Achuthanandan has decided to implead in a case filed by SNDP Yogan general secretary Vellapally Natesan seeking quashing of FIR filed against him in connection with the micro-finance scam. The veteran CPM leader also cautioned the government to maintain utmost vigil in the micro-finance case which involved cheating of scores of financially weak women from the Ezhava community.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Achuthanandan said that the 'tricks' being played by Mr Natesan to sabotage the micro-finance case, in which he is an accused, would not work. He also said that he would produce evidences regarding the involvement of the previous UDF government in the case. A retired director of the Kerala State Backward Communities Development Corporation was reemployed with the intervention of then chief minister Oommen Chandy and Backward Classes Welfare minister A.P. Anilkumar.

It may be recalled that Mr. Natesan had called on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here the other day and held closed door talks with him. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a case against Mr Natesan and four others in July in connection with the '15-crore micro- finance corruption allegation which was raised by Mr. Achuthanandan.
