Selfie craze claims lives of youngsters in Warangal

It has become a common practice these days to take selfies and share them on social networking sites.

Warangal: Selfies may be visual memories to cherish but sometimes they can turn into a death wish. The recent Dharmasagar tragedy saw four engineering students and a youth meet with a watery grave. The youngsters were trying to take a selfie at the scenic lake which was turned into a reservoir in 2005.
The selfie phenomenon again snuffed out young lives.

It has become a common practice these days to take selfies and share them on social networking sites. With smartphones with a front facing camera becoming affordable, the selfie craze has captured the imagination of across people of all ages.

Due to heavy rainfall in the district since the past week, most of lakes are in spate and attracting revellers in large numbers. The Waddepalli, Bhadrakali, Laknavaram, Pakhal, Ramappa lakes along with the Dharmasagar Lake are brimming with water.

The Bheemunipadam waterfall in Gudur mandal and the Bogatha waterfall in Khammam district are a visual treat.

Locals visit these waterfalls where there is breach and take photos. With the selfie craze, the youth are enjoying themselves to the hilt taking selfies precariously balancing on rocks and branches.
