KOZHIKODE: The BJP state committee has brought out a souvenir containing names of more than 250 party martyrs starting from the year 1960. The highest number of martyrs is from Kannur district (89). The souvenir also has the names of three Christians namely Lawrence (Bharatheeya Mazdur Sangh leader, Shakthan Thampuran Market, Thrissur, 1997), Jose, (Bharatheeya Mazdur Sangh leader, Thrissur, 1995) and Sunny Varghese (RSS mukhya shikshak, Bison Valley, Idukky).
The souvenir also holds detailed description of the K.T. Jayakrishnan murder at Kannur. A special chapter has been dedicated to Marad massacre in which eight persons were killed in twin riots in 2002 and 2003 . Chronologically the first martyr is Subramanian, a native of Thanoor who was shot dead at by Muslim League workers on March 3, 1965. Three ABVP students Anu, Sujith and Kim of Devaswam Board College, Parumala, who drowned in Pampa River during a clash between SFI and ABVP, also found place in the souvenir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the souvenir at the venue of national council on Sunday.
