Kerala University syndicate meet today on college affiliation
Thiruvananthapuram: A meeting of the Kerala University syndicate on Friday will discuss issues related to the affiliation of the B.Ed college with syndicate member Jyothikumar Chamakkala as manager. A report submitted by pro-vice chancellor N. Veeramanikandan had said that the Chamakkala Education Trust which runs the college did not have the required extent of land when the university gave it affiliation in 2005. Mr Jyotikumar, who is also a KPCC secretary, will lose his syndicate membership if the syndicate decides to withdraw the affiliation as he was elected from the constituency of managers of affiliated colleges.
The Trust had stated that it owned 4.29 acres of land, including three acres for a school on its premises while seeking affiliation from the university. However, the report of the pro-vice chancellor had found that the Trust had sold the additional land in 2013. Though the resolution dated September 15, 2009, appointed Mr. Jyothikumar as manager of the college, it was reported to the university only on December 13, 2012. The report was submitted to the university at the time of the previous UDF-dominated syndicate but it did not take it up for discussions. The LDF which wrested the syndicate after it assumed power has decided to reopen the issue.
