Govt groping in dark, says Ramesh Chennithala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has accused the government of groping in the dark over self-financing medical college admissions. In a statement here on Thursday, he said the issue had snowballed because of its incapability. “The colleges have released ads in newspapers inviting applications. Students and parents suffer in the tug of war between them,” said Mr Chennithala.
He took a dig at the government saying it realised it “when the UDF highlighted the foolishness of agreeing to Rs 4 lakh fee for BDS.” The government is in a dilemma. Similarly, when the government entered into a three-year agreement with Christian Management Association, it declared to take “those seats”. But instead, it came out with an order stating each candidate should pay an aggregate amount of Rs 4.4 lakh. But the private colleges solicited Rs 10 lakh - Rs 15 lakh as fees, he alleged.
