NHRC Notice to Police on Land Grabbing

Hyderabad: The alleged trespass into a factory in Jeedimetla and intimidating its owners, on which the Telangana High Court on Monday had taken serious note and issued notices to BRS Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, landed before National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday.

The NHRC took notice of the issue and directed the Cyberabad police to initiate action against the Petbasheerabad police, on a complaint by Ajayu Agarwal.

Agarwal alleged that the Petbasheerabad police personally assisted in an armed robbery, house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault and wrongful restraint, by breaking into his house at night to commit offences with around 100 persons, causing grievous hurt and also delayed registering a case.

Agarwal also alleged that the cops were biased and supported the accused.

Acting on his complaint dated July 21, the NHRC issued directions for transferring the complaint to the authorities concerned, for action as deemed appropriate.

“The authority concerned is directed to take appropriate action within eight weeks associating the complainant and to inform them of the action taken in the matter,” the NHRC stated in its direction.

Meanwhile, the Serilingampally MLA denied his involvement in the incident and said he was not acquainted with or even aware of Sulochana Agarwal, who owned the factory. He threatened to a file defamation case against her to unearth an alleged conspiracy hatched against him in the run-up to the polls. “People know of my honesty and integrity,” he said.

Asked why the complainants made him a party in the case, given that he claimed he was unaware of them, he said he had no idea.
