Hyderabad: The West Zone police on Wednesday conducted surprise checks at a coffee shops on Road No. 3 at Banjara Hills and another one at Jubilee Hills and apprehended three persons who were serving hookah. The team seized 32 hookah pots, 37 hookah pipes and 32 hookah flavours.
The raids were conducted at Cafe 4 Rasta in Banjara Hills and Area 1070 in Jubilee Hills, police said. They said the men arrested were Satya Teja, 31, Mohd. Abdul Rahman, 23, the owner of Cafe 4 Rasta and Shaik Althaf, 23, the manager of Area 1070.
“They were not demanding ID Proofs to check the customers’ ages and did not have separate smokingzones,” said P. Radhakrishna Raom DCP, commissioner’s task force.
