Peoples Democratic Party calls off state-wide hartal

Abdul Nassar Madani is the 31st accused in Bengaluru blast case and is undergoing trail at the NIA court.

KOLLAM: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called off the 12-hour hartal it had declared to be held state-wide on Wednesday. The party had earlier announced the hartal in protest against the NIA special court's order denying permission for PDP Chairman Abdul Nassar Madani to attend his son's marriage function to be held at Thalasseri next month. The party is learned to have called off the hartal after the party chairman shared his dissent in going on with the hartal.

Meanwhile, the court has given him permission to visit his ailing mother in his house at Karunagappally and can stay in the state from August 1 to 6. Abdul Nassar Madani is the 31st accused in Bengaluru blast case and is undergoing trail at the NIA court. Mr. Madani had filed plea before the NIA court demanding exemption in bail conditions to visit Kerala from August 1 to 20, intended to meet his mother who is suffering from cancer and to participate his son's marriage at Thalasseri scheduled at August 9. Abdul Nassar Madani, is currently under treatment at Sahaya hospital at Lalbagh in Bengaluru.
