Vigilance inquiry into Kerafed graft: Minister V S Sunil Kumar
KOZHIKODE: Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar has said that a Vigilance inquiry was recommended into the corruption allegations in Kerafed during the tenure of the UDF government. The file recommending the inquiry has already been sent to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for approval. Referring to CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s controversial speech at Payyannur, he said that violence was not the policy of the LDF government and that the CPI did not support any violence.
“Such comments are made as part of party meetings. I cannot reply to such comments as a minister,” he said. Reacting to a question on government land possessed by private plantations, he said that the government will takeover whatever belongs to it from private owners, which was illegally given away by the previous government.
“Strict action will be taken in this regard and any government order issued by the previous government will be revoked,” he said. He added that the cabinet sub-committee formed to inspect the orders issued during the last days of the UDF government will submit its report by July 31. “ Not just the orders of the last few months, but those from previous years too should be cross-checked,” he added.
