Special team formed to nab Marigowda: Govt to Karnataka High Court
BENGALURU: The state government on Monday informed the Karnataka High Court that a special team has been formed to nab K. Mari Gowda, an ‘alleged’ close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is now in the eye of a controversy after he reportedly humiliated Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha in public following a row over a land issue. Marigowda, who has been accused of intimidating Ms Shikha, is still at large.
The petitioner’s advocate argued that while several cases had been filed against Marigowda in the past, they were withdrawn by the state government. The court, adjourning the petition seeking anticipatory bail, has sought details of certain cases which were withdrawn according to the petitioner’s advocate.
‘Treat LSD patients’
The High Court on Monday directed the state government to begin treatment to patients suffering from Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD) at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health. The court said that that the patients who have already been identified must be given treatment and the cost of the treatment can be dealt with later.
The court passed the directions while hearing a petition filed by the Lysosomal Storage Disorder Support System, seeking directions to the government for free and uninterrupted treatment to patients suffering from the condition at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health and an order asking the government to bear the entire cost of treatment. The court was told that the treatment for each patient costs upwards of Rs 20 lakh and the state government has sought help from the Centre, but it has not responded so far.
