Physical training helps keep lifestyle diseases out: E P Jayarajan

Minister congratulated the school officials and administration for preparing a sports syllabus from a school

Thrissur: Due to unhealthy eating habits students are facing threat from various life style diseases, Sports Minister E.P. Jayarajan has said. Speaking at on the occasion of releasing five books on physical education at Dr. Raju Davis Grace International at Mala near here the other day, minister said that the state government had decided to launch a project to make students free from the clutches of these diseases through well-organized physical training.

Minister congratulated the school officials and administration for preparing a sports syllabus from a school “It may be for first time in India and as school may be coming with such a syllabus for physical training for its students,” minister noted. At the event he also announced the decision of the government to make physical education compulsory for students in which yoga, swimming, sports and games will be taught in a disciplined manner and government has decided to provide mobile swimming pools to all schools.

“Along with the swimming pool government will provide instructors as well. To train yoga in all schools experts will be deputed. Presently CBSE students are not allowed in the state level sports and youth festival. This is indeed a discrimination. Government will seriously think about the ways to end this discrimination shown to the various streams of students from the same stat,” minister added Dr. Raju Davis Perepadan, Chairman presided over the meeting.
