Bengaluru: Inspector Sanjeev Gowda transferred
BENGALURU: Sanjeev Gowda, the Vijaynagar inspector who was accused of mentally harassing woman police sub-inspector Roopa Tambad, was transferred to Vikas Soudha Security limits on Monday night. Unable to bear the harassment, Ms Tambad had tried to commit suicide by overdosing on paracetamol tablets.
The police had registered a case of attempt to suicide under IPC Section 309 against her on Saturday night, based on a complaint filed by the Rajajinagar police station inspector Vidyadhar D.B., said a senior police officer. Ms Tambad, who was discharged from Suguna Hospital on Saturday night, had already recorded her statement on Friday night. The transfer came in after the top police brass decided to order a departmental enquiry against Vijayanagar police station inspector Sanjeev Gowda based on the allegations made by Roopa, the police said.
On July, 19 Roopa was rushed to Suguna Hospital after she consumed around 25 tablets of paracetamol and Dolo following an argument with Gowda inside the police station over a seized mobile phone. She had told the senior officers that she took the extreme step because of harassment by Gowda.
