HYDERABAD: Responding to a report published in Deccan Chronicle, the GHMC on Saturday began a special drive to identify dilapidated structures and went about demolition. The report, 'GHMC takes no action to identify, demolish single dilapidated buildings in the city' was published on June 22.
During Saturday’s special drive, action was initiated against 34 structures of which 28 were demolished, four vacated, one renovated, while one structure was seized by the authorities.
After a survey on the condition of structures, 563 were found to be dilapidated. During the current year GHMC officials said that in respect of 138 structures, action has been taken for demolition/ repair by the owners or having the premises vacated.
