Ex-DGP in cop relief case summoned

The case is likely to be heard on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: The 10th additional chief judge of the city civil court issued a warrant for appearance to former director-general-police P. Ramulu in a pending case moved against him by retired inspector M. Madhava Reddy.

Mr Madhava Reddy moved the lower court after the state government and the other respondents, including Mr Ramulu, failed to implement an order of the court to pay him (Mr Reddy) Rs 75 lakh in compensation.

In 2001, Mr Reddy, then a police inspector, was detained under the Preventive Detention Act for allegedly aiding and abetting land-grabbing and encouraging anti-social elements, and was lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison. He was already under suspension for his alleged involvement in various illegal activities.

He (inspector) moved an execution petition for the implementation of the order. In this connection the court ordered the appearance of former DGP P Ramulu. The case is likely to be heard on Wednesday.
