CM Siddaramaiah hints at Cabinet rejig by month-end

KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar said the CM has been given complete freedom to carry out the expansion whenever he wishes.

Bengaluru: Dropping enough hints that the much awaited cabinet expansion might take place by the month end, CM Siddaramaiah said on Sunday he might bring up the topic when he meets Congress central leaders during his Delhi visit on June 28. Speaking to reporters here, Mr Siddaramaiah said,“I am leaving for Delhi on June 28 to be part of the delegation which will accompany the Opposition’s presidential candidate, Meira Kumar, when she files her nomination. If I find time, I will bring up cabinet expansion. I think that if all goes well, by the month end, I would be able to complete the long pending process.”

KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar said the CM has been given complete freedom to carry out the expansion whenever he wishes. “No one has so far intervened as it is his prerogative. But it is customary for any CM to discuss it with central leaders. It is upto the CM to decide who should be his home minister, this is not for the party to decide. Three slots in the cabinet are vacant, these will be filled according to Mr Siddaramaiah’s choices. Be it caste factor or region, it is he who will take the final decision,” he added.
