HYDERABAD: In a much-anticipated announcement, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared that the monsoon is set to arrive in Kerala on June 4, bringing relief from the ongoing heatwave across the country. The southwest monsoon, which usually reaches the southwestern most parts of India by June 1, is set to arrive later than usual this year, according to the IMD.

The scorching temperatures and prolonged heatwave have taken a toll on India, impacting agriculture, livestock, and public health. The arrival of the monsoon is particularly significant this year as it will bring relief to regions experiencing above-average temperatures. Farmers, in particular, eagerly anticipate the monsoon's arrival as it will facilitate the timely sowing of crops and boost agricultural productivity.

While the early monsoon arrival is good news, its progress and distribution may vary across the country. Some regions may receive more rainfall than others, and the timing may deviate from predictions. The IMD will closely monitor and provide updates on the monsoon's progress.

With hopes for abundant rainfall and the end of the heatwave, India eagerly awaits the arrival of the monsoon on June 4.
