Fun and love with Mambazhakaalam

The camp organised by the Cultural Affairs Department, engages children in different activities.

Thiruvananthapuram: It's ‘Mambazhakaalam ‘ again at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan. Nearly 50 children drawn all over Kerala are attending the camp which will conclude on May 28. This year’s festival was opened by Scu-lptor Kaanayi Kunjiram-an. At the camp and away from the school classes, the children are trying their hand on books and writing. Rubik’ s Cube, Cine-maVisuals,Visual Effects, Folk Songs, Music and Literature are some of the fun activities organised as part of the camp.

The camp organised by the Cultural Affairs Department, engages children in different activities. Children from standard five to ten can be a part of this camp. “ I have been a part of this camp since 5 years and I enjoy it a lot” says Niranjan from Thiru-vananthapuram.

Neehara P.V. from Palak-kad says she enjoyed the camp and was happy to find new friends. “The atmosphere at the camp is very different from school and class rooms. We have the freedom to do various activities. I would like to continue in this camp” said Avani from Kozhiko-de.

The daily sessions start at 9 am. There are six different sessions, Apart from cultural activities, the camp also gets prominent personalities to interact with the children. There are special classes for improving the children's public speaking abilities. There are a range of programmes like ‘Bhasha Engane Nammalil’, ‘Thal-am Melam’, ‘ Varayude Chirichandam’.

Several top personalities are taking part in interactive sessions with students. The personalities include artist B.D. Dathan, art director Nemom Push-paraj, Shyam S. Prabha-transgender, orator, Kera-la University assistant professor Malayalam M.A. Siddique, artist Karakka-mandapam Vijayakumar, film Critic U.K. Joseph, child drama director Peter Parakkal, writer George Onakkoor, Cartoonist Haku and Hari Charuta.

Director Adoor Gopala-krishnan will be the chief guest at the concluding day on May 28. He will interact with the students on that day.
