CPM for online drive against action council
KALPETTA: Alarmed by the ongoing protests over the delay in releasing funds for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report of the Nilambur-Nanjangud railway project by both UDF and other independent people’s bodies, the CPM has decided to intensify its campaign. Kalpetta MLA C.K. Saseendran told DC that they were doing every bit to ensure the railway project. “We cannot say that Thalassery-Mysore project should not be implemented. People there has the same right as we have," he said.
The hartal called by BJP-UDF combine over the issue appears to have infuriated his party. He said the hartal was declared soon after the action council leaders met the chief minister along with him. “We were together till then. And suddenly they decided to go separately. Now it has become truly political and pro-UDF," he added. The CPM has decided to resist the attack on the party in online forums and in many WhatsApp groups.
CPM leader Suresh Thaloor said the action council which had been operating in the guise of an independent body had shown its true colours. “The action council is mere a political arm of UDF which is headed by IUML workers," he said in a WhatsApp message. “LDF will be on with steps to ensure the railway line and the funds for the project would be released after completing the procedural steps.”
