Vijayawada: A boy, who was believed kidnapped, was found dead in a quarry pit filled with water at Macherla of Guntur district on Thursday.
The parents, relatives and locals staged protest, alleging that the boy was murdered, demanded the arrest of the culprits.
According to the reports, Bhukya Sai Satwik, 6, alias Siddhu was last seen playing with his friends at the government school near his house at Nehru Nagar on April 23.
The police checked the CCTV footage of Macherla railway station and found a person carrying a boy on his shoulders. The police claimed that the boy was Siddhu being kidnap and the same spread in the news and social media. However, the parents of Siddhu said that the boy in the footage was not their son.
Meanwhile, some locals found Siddhu’s body in the quarry pit filled with water and informed it to the police on Thursday morning. Siddhu’s relatives alleging negligence of the police protested. The police asked the family to stay calm as the body has been sent for postmortem to determine the cause of death.
