Hyderabad: Cops bust betting ring, arrest three
Hyderabad: The police, in two seperate cases, arrested three persons for organising betting on IPL matches in the city.
In the firt case, the South Zone task force on Thursday arrested two person and seized Rs 4.7 lakh.
According to the cops the prime accused Suraj, who was absconding, was organising betting from Surat in Gujarat and accepted bets from in and around Hyderabad with the help of his friends.
Based on a tip-off, the sleuths apprehended the duo, Adesh Kumar and Mohit Agarwal, for collecting money in behalf of Suraj at HDFC Bank, Basheerbagh.
S. Chaitanya Kumar, Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force said, “The accused were caught red handedly while collecting huge betting amounts from punters in connection with the IPL match between RCB Vs Kings XI Punjab teams at Bengaluru on Thursday”.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the West Zone task force, based on a tip-off, busted a betting racket and arrested the organiser in Banjara Nagar, Borabanda.
For the past three month, R. Narsing Naik, 30, along with his friend, Madduri Sudhakar, had been organising an illegal business of betting on IPL matches from a residence in Borabanda.
B. Gattu Mallu, Inspector of Police, West Zone Team said, “We have nabbed the accused Naik, who was engaging in cricket betting for ongoing IPL-2019 Cricket match in between Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Kings XI Punjab teams playing at Bengaluru on Wednesday”.
