Suspect in Walayar case found hanging

SIT is of the opinion that he was involved in sexually abusing the minor girls and hence he committed suicide.

Palakkad: A 30-year-old man who was questioned by the special investigation team a month ago in the rape and suicide case of two minor sisters at Attappalam near Walayar was found hanging near a pond in his locality on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased is, Praveen, a daily wage worker residing half -a -kilometer away from the house of the deceased sisters. He was summoned by the special investigation team lead by Palakkad Narcotic Cell DySP M.J. Sojan a month ago and was recently asked to turn up before the SIT a few days ago, but he refused to do so.

"We had asked him a few days ago to be present of questioning again over the death of the minor sisters. He was a frequent visitor at the single room house of the girls," DySP told DC. SIT is of the opinion that he was involved in sexually abusing the minor girls and hence he committed suicide. Praveen, son of Joseph, is unmarried. The elder sister, aged 13, was found hanging in her single-room house on January 13 and after 52 days the nine-year-old younger one was also found hanging at the same place.
