Haj House multipurpose complex to come up near Vijayawada International Airport
VIJAYAWADA: AP Haj Committee chairman Sheikh Gausal Lazam said on Friday that the committee has decided to construct a Haj House near Vijayawada International Airport to resolve the difficulties of Haj pilgrims.
The APHC meeting was held here on Friday, attended by members including MLAs Ishak Basha and Nawaz Basha. The chairman said five acres of land will be acquired from the government near the airport to set up the Haj House multipurpose commercial complex.
Gausal Lazam said Saudi Arabia had put a ban on Haj pilgrimage for the past two years due to the Covid pandemic, and the pilgrimage will resume this year.
“Earlier, the quota for Haj to AP was 2930 people. We are waiting for the fresh allotment of Haj quota. As many as 1388 people applied for Haj with APHC and soon they would set out on the pilgrimage after getting clearance from the central government.”
The chairman said a delegation of APHC will meet Chief Minister Jagan Reddy to explain the Haj House complex proposal and seek allotment of land.
