Land grab case: Kerala police probe documents fabricators
KALPETTA: Police started investigation into the alleged fabrication of documents in the Thondarnadu village office facilitating a real estate group to encroach into land owned by noted artist Paris Mohan Kumar. It may be recalled that this newspaper had reported on Saturday how the 26 cents of land the artist had bought to grow indigenous trees, was fenced by the real estate group backed by cooked up documents. Local people say that the incident was not an isolated one.
There were many such instances in the past when the victim had to bow out due to fear of the real estate group which played all sorts of games to grab properties. Paris Mohan Kumar had bought the land from a woman Shakunthala 35 years ago. The same real estate group had grabbed the land of many other farmers in the area using the same tactics, it was alleged. If anyone registered a protest they would be silenced showing the fake documents, it was pointed out. Some revenue officials are also supporting the land grabbing mafia to cook up documents, it was pointed out. On directions of Vellamunda sub inspector Ajith K., a police team examined the spot on Saturday.
