Hubby, in-laws held for abetting suicide in Pollachi
Coimbatore: The city police arrested a 30-year-old man and his parents for abetting the suicide of a 27-year-old woman over family issues in Pollachi on Thursday.
A mother of two children aged one and four, D. Deepa, 27 from Thirumangalam in Madurai district committed suicide by jumping into a well at the backyard of her house on Thursday early morning.
She was married to R Dhanasekaran, a TNSTC conductor more than five years ago and the couple was residing along with her in-laws K. Ramachandran, 62, R. Gokilamani, 58, and his younger brother, R Ramesh, 28.
At around 5.30am, Senthil Kumar, a tenant in their house, had heard the sound of something falling into the well. He immediately rushed to check and found Deepa had drowned in the well. He also informed Dhanasekaran and the Kottur police, who rushed to the spot and held enquiries.
The cops later found a suicide note left behind by Deepa in which she said she was taking the extreme step as she was unable to bear the torture of her husband and in-laws.
The cops registered a case against Dhanasekaran, his parents and brother under IPC sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 498(A) (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and arrested them. The accused persons were produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
