Jawan Kalathilveetil Sreejith's funeral held at Paruthipulli
Palakkad: The funeral of Kalathilveetil Sreejith, 28, the jawan martyred at Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir in an ambush by militants, was held with full state and military honours at his native Paruthipully near Kottayi here Saturday. A team of officials led by district collector P. Mary Kutty received his mortal remains flown in at Coimbatore airport. A junior commandant officer and two jawans from 44 Rashtriya Rifles at Shopian accompanied the body from Jammu to his home in Palakkad.
Ministers A.C. Moideen and V.S. Sunil Kumar representing the state government paid last respects to the jawan before the funeral. The body was kept for public homage at ALP School in Paruthipully where the jawan studied and then for ten minutes at the new house he constructed in the locality. Mr Sreejith along with two jawans from Jammu and Rajasthan had died in the ambush. He was attached to Madras Engineers Group based in Rajasthan and reached J&K three months ago.
