Remove incorrect vision, gain peace, says Mata Amritanandamayi

The Mata said many people came to her and said that they are totally useless and that no one wants them.

Chennai: Removing incorrect vision or wrong perspective in life would help one to gain a lot especially in resolving the problems in life, and gaining peace, says Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.

“The tendency of the mind to search for the bad instead of the good is what the scriptures call drishti-dosham - faulty vision. Vision is not what we see externally through our physical eyes. It is the perception born from our understanding of life and situations. This vision should be pure and without blemish. The solutions to most of our internal and external problems lie in removing our incorrect vision or wrong perspective. It is our duty to make efforts towards this end,” she said.

Speaking on the second day of the Bramasthanam Mahotsavam here on Friday, she said one should attempt to change oneself first and set an example rather than wait for others to change.”If we wait for others to change nothing will ever happen. We should try to change first then others will follow our example,” she said.

The Mata said many people came to her and said that they are “totally useless” and that “no one wants them.” Sometimes they say that they don’t see any point in living. “These thoughts of uselessness really shock and hurt me. If we were to deeply introspect, we will realise that these thoughts are baseless. It’s just a form of self-pity. First of all, we should not allow such thoughts to bury their roots in our mind. There is nothing in this universe that is ‘useless’. God has created each and every living being with exact measurements and requirements. Thinking, ‘I am useless,’ is equal to questioning God’s omniscience. We usually consider someone to be ‘great’ or ‘successful’ if they have a big house, wealth, fame and authority. All these will come and go at any time,” she said.
