Students told to bring good name to state, country

Justice Rao with AP high court judge Justice AV Sesha Sai laid stone for an auditorium with Rs 35 lakh in funds given by the school alumni

VIJAYAWADA: Supreme Court Judge Justice Lavu Nageswara Rao said on Friday that nothing is unattainable with hard work and asked students to bring name and fame to the state and the country. Justice Rao was speaking at the SVV High School platinum jubilee celebrations at Tadikonda on Friday.

Justice Rao with AP high court judge Justice AV Sesha Sai laid the foundation stone for construction of an auditorium with Rs 35 lakh in funds provided by the school alumni. The SC judge noted that he hailed from an ordinary peasant family from a rural area. So were Chief Justice NV Ramana and former SC judge, Justice Chalameswar.

The Tadikonda Oriental College was founded by Vidwan Kanakayya, it being the first college in AP having oriental language courses. “I am happy to know that about 80 per cent of the educational institutions in Tadikonda have substantial numbers of students from backward classes and Scheduled Castes,” the SC judge said.

Justice Rao said, “As citizens holding high offices, we must try and bring up those who do not have equal opportunities and ensure them all equal rights. Happiness is important to all. This does not come from money but from a sense of satisfaction that we did the right thing.”

According to a survey conducted by the UN on happiness, tiny European nation, Finland, has been the leading country in the world for the past four years in terms of economic, health and GDP. The survey studied situations in 150 countries, in which India stood at the 139th place. Notably, neighbouring Pakistan and Sri Lanka fared better in these respects,” the SC judge noted.

Justice Nageswara Rao said students should have goals and they should bring good name and fame to their parents, school, state and the country. He stressed the need for protecting the ancient Telugu language.

AP high court judge Justice AV Seshasai said, “Education is the best gift of all”.

Former MLC Rayapati Srinivas said the SVV High School Platinum Jubilee celebrations have been postponed for the last two years due to the Covid conditions and the celebrations started now due to a positive change in the situation.

Guntur East MLA Mohammad Mustafa, former Guntur Mayor Mohan Sai, Tadikonda educational institutions secretary Gopichand, alumni association president Yerra Nageswara Rao, secretary TT Reddy and Visakhapatnam former MLA SA Rehman and addressed the students.
