WARANGAL: Mattewada Ajay Kumar, a micro artist from Warangal, has made a miniature idol of Jesus Christ out of wax on the occasion of Christmas. It is just 0.9mm in length and can easily fit inside the eye of a needle.
The crown of thorns on the head of Jesus and the blood dripping from his hands and legs are done in colours.
A goldsmith by profession, Ajay has been into making miniature items since his childhood.
“It took me 14 hours over five days to carve this 0.9mm length Jesus Christ idol. I used a microscopic magnifying glass and several sharp and smooth edged instruments to make it,” Ajay said.
Mr Ajay Kumar also has set a world record by creating the smallest lock with seven levers in 2004.
His works featured three times in the Limca Book of Records. Some of his miniature works include a fan, violin and scissors made of gold.
He even carved the images of eminent personalities on a rice grain. He gained international acclaim with his carvings on ivory and matchsticks.
