Brand Bengaluru: The logo is finally here!

Designed by Venkateswara Rao of Namma Ooru team, the logo, 'Be U,' reflects the city's cosmopolitan culture.

Bengaluru: Bengaluru joined an elite group of global cities including New York, Singapore and Melbourne with the launch of its own tourism logo.

Designed by Venkateswara Rao of Namma Ooru team, the logo, 'Be U,' reflects the city’s cosmopolitan culture and was chosen from 1,750 entries with Rao bagging a prize of Rs 5 lakh for his effort. Designed in red and white, it has both English and Kannada letters and was launched on Sunday along with a street festival- Namma Bengaluru Habba.

Explaining what the logo was all about, Rao told Deccan Chronicle, "We had to convey what Bengaluru really stands for and its ethos. The Kannada alphabet 'oo' has been incorporated."

And what were the thoughts which went into its making? “Bengaluru is a vibrant city, which allows people to do what they want and follow the culture of their choice. So we highlighted the first two letters from Bengaluru, 'Be' and the last letter 'U' to convey the underlying spirit of a diverse culture - 'Be U,” said the designer. Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George who unveiled the logo, said it would help boost the city's image and attract tourists.
