Chennai: A 36-year-old man was killed while his coworker sustained grievous injuries after they both fell off of the roof of a building, when they were working on it, in Sipcot, Gummidipoondi, on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Anbu, (36), a resident of the Chinna Natham village. Anbu and his friend Vasu were hired to lay tile roof in a private electric wire manufacturing company.
The duo was working atop the building at a height of 30 feet when the roof, they were standing on caved in, and they both fell down.
Anbu died on the spot, and Vasu who suffered grievous injuries was rushed to Government Stanley Hospital here. Sipcot police moved the body of the deceased to Ponneri GH for an autopsy.
A case was registered against the company's manager, and supervisor on charges of causing death due to negligence. Anbu and Vasu were not wearing any safety gear, which could have helped prevent them from falling down.
