Raj Bhavan Turns Fortress For Modi's Two-Day Stay

Hyderabad: Raj Bhavan has been turned into a security fortress ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would be staying there on Saturday and Sunday during his three-day visit to the state to take part in the BJP’s election campaign.

The Special Protection Group (SPG), which handles the Prime Minister's security, has taken over the sprawling Raj Bhavan campus and the surroundings and begun sanitising the area with bomb detection teams and dog squads. Anti-drone measures have also been put in place as a precautionary measure.

They have also held a series of meetings with multiple wings of the state police in connection with security arrangements and reviewed their preparedness. Further, a full convoy rehearsal was also conducted on Friday evening.

A three-tier security cover is provided for the Prime Minister’s stay in the city for two nights. While the SPG will take care of the periphery, the next and the outer circles are handled by the senior officials from various wings of the state, followed by other personnel.

Personnel from the state Intelligence, Intelligence Security Wing, City Security Wing, Counter terrorist Octopus wing, Armed Reserve, Law & Order, Traffic and other wings are being deployed. Roof-top watch is also set up en route the convoy from the Begumpet airport to Raj Bhavan, the police said. Personnel from CAPFs are also deployed for bandobast, they added.

Modi will be addressing public meetings and road shows in different parts of the state on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Reports however said that the Prime Minister may travel to Tirumala on Sunday, stay overnight in the temple town and return to the campaign on Monday.
