Nine More Govt Polytechnics Get NBA Recognition in AP

Vijayawada: Nine government polytechnic in AP have received NBA recognition.

This was stated here on Saturday by secretary to the AP skill development department, Suresh Kumar. He said the efforts of the technical education department to win National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the government polytechnics yielded results.

Sixteen programmes in nine polytechnics had already received NBA recognition. “Nine more government polytechnics in AP have received NBA recognition. It will be ensured that all these polytechnics achieved a high level of success by the end of next academic year.”

Suresh Kumar said that as per the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government’s plan, steps would be taken to conduct polytechnic education as per international standards.

The Srikakulam, Vijayawada, Kuppam, Anakapalli, Gannavaram, Kalyanadurgam, Amudalavalasa, Guntur, Nandyala, Kalikiri, Parvathipuram, Rajampet, Kakinada, Dharmavaram, Chandragiri and Atmakuru polytechnics have won NBA recognition in different branches.

In the first phase, 41 government polytechnics tried to get the accreditation, but 18 polytechnics have won this.

“The Department of Technical Education has made a special effort in making the polytechnics conform to NBA standards.

NBA acts as an accreditation agency of international standards. NBA examines aspects of teaching, self-evaluation, accountability, quality improvement and professional development in the higher education system.

Technical education commissioner Chadalavada Nagarani said there was a possibility of getting NBA for 11 more polytechnics in the next two months. The works related to this were progressing fast.

The aim is to ensure that the students get immediate employment. Additional add-on courses are also available. All the departments of the college have become modern. The students' hostels have also been improved, The commissioner said.
