HC summons UCO Bank official in Maganti case

HYDERABAD: A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice V. Bhaskar Reddy, on Friday summoned the regional manager of UCO Bank to be present in court on December 9. The bank had filed a writ appeal against an earlier order of the High Court, which had suspended a lookout circular (LOC) that the bank had issued to Dr Venkata Ramana Rao Maganti.

It claimed that he had to pay Rs 6.32 crore dues to them. Dr Maganti had earlier contended that the LOC violated his fundamental right and was an abuse of the process of law. With a view that UCO Bank could not provide substantive reasons as to why the LOC was issued, the High Court had previously suspended it.

The court took strict cognizance of M. Shalini, appearing on behalf of UCO Bank, in not responding to the queries of the court and obstructing it in delivering the order.
