ALAPPUZHA: The body of a youth who went missing in Manimala river on Tuesday was found on Thursday. One of his friends was arrested by police for deliberately pushing him into the river. He was identified as Rajesh,39, Attuhira house, Kidangara. Manu 22, Madapally, Manimala near Changanassery went missing from Tharayil Jetty near Ramankari on Tuesday evening. Police said the three -member group was inebriated when the incident took place. A heated exchange preceded Manu being pushed into the river.
The friends reached the spot in an auto rickshaw owned by a native of Muttar. The police took the auto rickshaw driver into custody. The body was fished out by police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel. Rajesh was recently released on bail in another case, police said. The police has also taken another friend in the group in custody. But he has not been charged. The body of Manu was handed over to relatives after a postmortem examination, police said.
