Hyderabad: Man facing rape trial ends life by suicide

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old private employee who was facing a trial for rape charges at a Bengaluru court ended his life by suicide at his house at Tirumala Hills, Puppalaguda under Narsingi police station limits.

Narsingi police said, “The victim, Rohan Shree Kumar, returned from gym at 10 pm on Tuesday and informed his father that he is not feeling well and wants to take rest. He went to his room and locked the door from inside. Getting no response after repeated calls, his father grew suspicious and broke open the door and found Rohan dead,” the police said.

He rushed Rohan to Vikarabad government hospital where the duty doctors declared him brought dead, police said.

Six months ago, Rohan Kumar was arrested by Bengaluru police for charges of raping a woman in Bengaluru and was facing a trial. He had to attend his trial on Wednesday but the court in Bengaluru postponed the date to next month, the police confirmed.

Rohan’s father informed the police that his son was depressed for the past few months and might have ended his life. Police registered a case of suspicious death and shifted the victim’s body to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem.
