Vijayawada: A massive influx of Bhavanis thronged the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam hill shrine at Indrakeeladri here for relinquishment of their sacred short-term Bhavani deeksha.
They also had darshan of the presiding deity, goddess Sri Kanaka Durga Darshan on Tuesday.
The nine-day Dasara festivities concluded with the sailing of presiding deities in Hamsa Vahanam on the water of River Krishna.
After a gap of three years, the NTR district administration organised the Teppotsavam on the river with the cooperation of the Water Resources, Police, Fire, Revenue, Endowment and other departments.
With the celestial Teppostavam boat riding of the Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga Devi and Sri Malleswara Swamy on a specially designed Hamsa Vahanam at the Durga Ghat on the River Krishna, the nine-day Dasara Sarannavaratri festivities in Vijayawada drew to a close.
The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri organised the festivities for nine days in a grand manner.
On the final day, Sri Kanaka Durga Devi was adorned as Sri Mahishasura Mardhini Devi from 4am to 12 noon. After that, the presiding deity appeared as Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi Avataram from 1pm to 11pm. Some two lakh devotees thronged the temple and had the darshan of goddess Durga Devi.

Generally, every year, after the completion of the Dasara festivities, Bhavanis reach the temple to have the darshan of Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga. A sea of Bhavanis visited the temple for their deeksha relinquishment.
The temple authorities were expecting that around 3 lakh to 4 lakh Bhavanis would turn up. Owing to an unprecedented influx of Bhavani devotees, the Sri Kanaka Durga temple and its premises turned red.
