CPM, BJP tussle to split people, says A K Antony
KOZHIKODE: The unabated political clashes in Kannur smacks of conspiracy to divide the people and reap benefit by weakening Congress, says senior Congress leader A.K. Antony. He was talking to media persons here on Monday. “Both CPM and BJP are not ready to stop violence. It seems that they are on an experiment drive to share the people across the two parties and gradually weaken the Congress. That seems to be their aim,” he said.
Antony warned that BJP using all its might to have a strong presence in the state would affect the secular fabric. “The saffron party is eying communal polarisation. Some fringe elements among the minority community add fuel to the fire,” observed Antony. He said that the violence in Kannur could be curbed provided the police was given a free hand. “But the present government bows down to the party,” he said.
