BJP to hold one-day fast to protest CPM violence'
Thrissur: The BJP in the district will conduct a one-day fast in all the 13 assembly constituencies on Wednesday against the alleged violent politics of the CPM. District President A Nagesh told media persons here on Monday that right from the day the CPM-led LDF government came to power, the string of political violence and murders began in the district. “The CPM has unleashed violence in the district with the police being silent spectators. The latest incident was that of the murder attempt on the brother (Vishnu), of the accused in the killing of a CPM worker in Pavaratty . The small finger of Vishnu's right palm was chopped off,” Nagesh said.
He also said that the CPM had not officially condemned any of these attacks including that on the houses of the BJP women leaders like Lisha Jayanarayanan at Kaipamangalam and Grama Panchayat Member in Meloor Sreedevi and the hacking of four BJP men at Payyanoor on Sunday night. “Those criminals who work as CPM men during day and NDF activists at night are behind such attacks,” he alleged. The fast on Wednesday will be inaugurated at 13 different centers by national and state leaders, he added.
