Hyderabad: A gang of five persons who impersonated Hyderabad Task Force sleuths, involved in two cases of robbing gutkha transporters by waylaying the victims on the Outer Ring Road, were arrested by the Ghatkesar police on Tuesday.
On September 11, the police received a complaint from a man that five persons impersonating policemen robbed him while on and took away Rs 60,000 cash and two mobile phones.
The complainant was transporting gutkha in a car from Karnataka when the incident took place.
A week later, another complaint was received that when a group of people was transporting gutkha in a car, the same gang waylaid them and robbed Rs 1.5 lakh from the inmates, took the inmates to various places in the city and made them withdraw Rs 10,000 cash from the ATMs and also took away a gold chain, two rings and USD 1,800, police said.
